The Oakland Zoo is honored to have a special group of dedicated adults who love animals and welcome the opportunity to share their knowledge and passion with visitiors of all ages. These amazing volunteers are called Docents. Docents can be found around the Zoo interacting with the public and using hands-on artifacts and learning tools to teach visitors about the wonderful animals they are viewing. Want your own personal tour of the Zoo with a Docent? You can learn all about the Zoo on a Walking Tour or you can sit and relax as you tour the Zoo on a Docent Cart Tour. Either way, you'll learn a lot while exploring the Zoo with a Docent who loves the Zoo just as much as you do.

To make a reservationdownload the Docent Tour Request Form. Submit a completed copy by email or fax to (510) 729-7324 at least 4 weeks in advance of the date you would like to reserve. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests for bookings less than two weeks prior to the event. Payment of tour fees is due at the time of reservation.

Unfortunately, there are no refunds for cancellations regardless of when the cancellation is made.
