Bring your class to a ZooSchool Field Trip!
Special programs have been designed to fit varying needs. Oakland Zoo can accommodate a special tour, classroom, ZooSchool, on-site workshops, or a sleepover. Take a look at the many offerings and pick the one that works best for you.
This option is great for classes who want to come to the Zoo and explore on their own. If your group has more than 12 people, you can register in advance and receive a discounted admission price.
ZooSchool Explorer's Club is a unique program designed for school groups. An Education Specialist will lead activities and discussions in one of our Education Classrooms and take your group on a guided tour of the Zoo. There are different age appropriate activities for each grade level and after your 2 1/2 hour program you are welcome to stay in the Zoo for lunch and more self guided exploration.
Wildlife Assembly is a 45-minute interactive program exclusive to your school. It is hosted by an Oakland Zoo Education Specialist, who will discuss animal adaptations through games, songs and a live animal presentation. After your program ends, your class, using their honed observational skills, will venture out into the Zoo to explore at your own pace. This program is great for large groups with multiple classes and multiple age ranges.
Want a special guided tour by somenone who loves animals just as much as you do? We have the perfect person: a docent. Docents are a select group of adult volunteers who have completed a special training course. They are very knowledgeable about the animals at the Oakland Zoo and love to educate and inspire visitors. Docent led tours are appropiate for anyone ages 5 and up. Motorized cart tours are also available.
