Grand Opening of Serengeti Safari at Oakland Zoo’s Adventure Landing

Oakland, CA – On Friday, October 24, 2014, at 11:00am, a brand-new ride will be unveiled at Oakland Zoo’s Adventure Landing (formerly referred to as the Zoo’s Rides Area). Over the summer months, Adventure Landing underwent renovations, which includes a new family-friendly jeep adventure called Serengeti Safari. “The re-branded Adventure Landing area offers interconnected family entertainment in a themed environment,” said Nancy Filippi, Managing Director of Oakland Zoo. “The new Serengeti Safari ride allows the whole family to ride together.”

Live entertainment and festivities to commemorate the Grand Opening of Serengeti Safari will also take place at Adventure Landing. The renovated area is made up of a variety of rides including the Outback Express Adventure Train, the Conservation Carousel, Tiger Trek Rollercoaster, Retro Racing, and Bush Pilot Training. Children and adults are invited to climb aboard the vehicles and traverse through a safari-themed expedition where imagination comes alive. The new attraction can accommodate up to four passengers and costs $3.00 per person. This experience is geared towards families with children eight years of age and younger.
