Teddy Bear Tea
Saturday, September 14, 2013 9:30am – 12:00pm
Your child and his or her favorite stuffed bear (or other favorite stuffie) are cordially invited to join us for a morning of snacks, tea and lemonade, and to learn about bears in the wild. We will make enrichment gifts for the Zoo's own Sun Bears and watch them enjoy the treats we’ve prepared. Your child will also receive a gift bag and a personal thank you letter from our bears to remember this special morning at the Zoo. It'll be so much fun, you and your kids will hardly be able to bear it! Program Fee: Children: $23.00 for current Oakland Zoo members / $25.00 for non-members. Adults: $12.00. ZooKids: Some Like it Hot, Savannah Animals
Saturday, September 14 and 21, 9:30am – 12:00pm
Does your little one love animals? ZooKids classes are a great way for children age 4-5 to have a fun and educational adventure at the zoo. Each program includes a mini zoo tour, craft, games, animal close-up, and snack. ZooKids classes are held on Saturdays from 9:30am - 12:00pm. Each ZooKids class is offered twice per month to accommodate more participants. Each month has a different theme and classes are designed so that children can come to multiple classes without repeating the same activities. Pre-registration is required. Program fee is '26.00. 4th Annual Oakland Senior Summer Free Day
Monday, September 16, 2013 10:00am – 4:00pm
Oakland residents 65+ receive free admission to the Oakland Zoo. Seniors must be 65+ with valid identification and must be residents of Oakland. Oakland Zoo’s Senior Summer Free Days are in partnership with the Oakland City Council member Larry Reid. Parking is free to Oakland Seniors (65+). All other guests must pay regular admission. Zoovie Night at Oakland Zoo
Friday, September 20, 2013 6:30pm – 9:30pm
Put on your jammies and enjoy an evening of Zoovie magic with the whole family. Bring your pillows, blankets, and chairs and snuggle up in our auditorium for a specially selected animal-or nature-themed movie. Meet some of our nocturnal Education animals brought to you by Roosevelt, Oakland Zoo's costumed alligator mascot. Hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course) and popcorn will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own treats and traditional family movie fare. Let the show begin! $7 per adult and $7 per child to cover the costs of the Animal close-up program and snacks. If your group has 4 or more people, the price is $6 per adult and $6 per child. Primate Wise! A Benefit for the Chimpanzees of the Budongo Forest

Discovering Primates Presents: Primate-Wise! A Benefit for the chimpanzees of the Budongo Forest. Virginia Morell, author of the book Animal Wise, guides us on a dazzling journey into the inner world of animals--with a special focus on the thoughts and emotions of primates. Be prepared to appreciate the dynamic dimensions of the primate mind on a whole new level. Please join us for an evening of inspiration, hope and fun in Oakland Zoo’s Marian Zimmer Auditorium. 2nd Annual “Feed the Animals” Golf Tournament
Friday, October 11, 2013 11:00am signup and 12:00pm Tee-Off

Help Oakland Zoo and have fun too! Sign up now for the 2nd Annual Feed the Animals Golf Tournament. All funds raised are used to ensure the health and well-being of all the animals at the Zoo and provide for education, outreach, conservation, and animal welfare programs. $150 per person and includes round of golf, cart, goodie bag, and box lunch. Peanut Shells & Primates – how farm waste can save Uganda’s wildlife.
Speakers: Rebecca Goldstone and Michael Stern

The New Nature Foundation has been working to protect Uganda’s Kibale National Park in various capacities since 2002. With long-standing support from Oakland Zoo, the Kibale Fuel Wood Project and Kibale Eco Char Initiative focus on the fuel wood crisis, the largest threat to Uganda’s wildlife. By empowering local community members to meet their energy needs in sustainable ways, habitat for chimpanzees, monkeys, bats, birds, elephants, antelopes and pigs is being protected. Boo at the Zoo

Visit Oakland Zoo for our annual Halloween event, Boo at the Zoo. Stroll the Zoo in costume and collect yummy treats. Ride the spooky boo train, then be part of the costume parade. Plus, you'll get to see how the animals at Oakland Zoo celebrate Halloween. Kids in costumes receive a free ride ticket. Boo at the Zoo is included with general admission. Oakland Zoo’s ZooLights - A Holiday Light Display
November 29, 2013 – January 5, 2014, 5:30pm - 9:00pm

Hundreds of thousands of LED lights brighten Oakland’s night sky. Highlights include a candy cane lane themed rides area, a night time adventure on the Outback Express train, rocking around the Christmas trees in the Children’s Zoo, and a light show that’s sure to blow out any bah hum bugs. The Zoo elves are decking the halls of the Reptile Room with mistletoe and all things jolly. Plus, give Santa your wish lists and pose for a picture. ZooLights is closed on December 24 & 25. CA Revels - Yule at the Zoo
