ABOUT THE
OAKLAND ZOO
The Oakland Zoo is a non-profit organization, managed by the East Bay Zoological Society. Founded in 1922 by Henry Snow, the Zoo has been located in its current Knowland Park location since 1936. Nestled in the rolling hills of 525-acre Knowland Park, the Zoo is located at 9777 Golf Links Rd., Oakland off Highway 580, and is home to more than 440 native and exotic animals. - The Oakland Zoo is open daily from 10am to 4pm, closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- The children's rides area, train, and sky ride open at 11am.
- In the event of inclement weather, the Zoo may be forced to close.

Children under 2 years are admitted free. A group discount for 12 or more is available.
Some educational programs and special events are included in the general admission charge.
Group Reservations Policy

Wheel-chair accessibility
Although the Oakland Zoo is wheel-chair accessible, some of our pathways are steep and may be challenging for some attendants tending to manual chairs.
Education Programs!

Service Animal Policy
The Oakland Zoo welcomes individuals with disabilities and is committed to ensuring that the Zoo grounds, facilities and programs are accessible to all visitors. While the Zoo generally prohibits any non-zoo animals from entering the Zoo and park grounds, exceptions are made for individuals with disabilities who bring their service animals to the Zoo.
Picnic Reservations
Barbecue facilities and tables for large groups and company picnics are available. The Snow Building, a spacious hall, accommodates 250 people, has a fully equipped kitchen, and offers a spectacular view of the San Francisco Bay. It is a great place for receptions, meetings, and parties. The auditorium and classrooms in the Maddie's Center for Science and Education are also available for day-time rentals.
