DINING AT THE OAKLAND ZOO
The Oakland Zoo features a variety of dining opportunities for the entire family. For the safety of the animals, the Zoo does not provide straws or soft drink lids.
In addition to the food options inside the Zoo, visitors are welcome to use the many picnic tables located on the lower level just inside the Main Gate.

Kisiwa Mkahawa Island Café
Located just inside the main entrance at Flamingo Plaza, the Island Café is open year round and serves traditional fare including hamburgers, hot dogs, hot and cold sandwiches, French fries, salads, pizza, ice cream, snack items, juices and soft drinks. Vegetarian options are available. The café has inside seating for 50 visitors and the two adjacent patios offers additional seating for 120. An ATM machine is located inside the café.
Open 10:00AM to closing. The Island Café accepts ATM and major credit cards.
Safari Café
Located inside the Children's Rides area, the Safari Café is open daily during the
summer months and on weekends and holidays during the winter season. Hot dogs,
cold sandwiches, ice cream, snack items, juices and soft drinks are available.

Located in the Little Africa Savanna Area near the Elephants, Zebras and Meerkats, the Savanna Café is opened daily during the summer months and offers hot dogs, cold sandwiches, ice cream, snack items, juices and soft drinks. Covered outside seating is located nearby.

Located at the entrance to the Valley Children's Zoo, the Food Cart is open daily during the summer months and on weekends and holidays during the winter season. The cart offers hot dogs, sandwiches, ice cream, snack items, bottled water, juices and soft drinks.

Located in the Veldt, across from the Giraffes , this cart offers a variety of ice cream. Chilled bottled water is also available. Open daily during the summer months.
