Earth Day 2007 - The Oakland Zoo celebrates “Get Your Green Groove On”

OAKLAND, CA. – The Oakland Zoo will observe Earth Day 2007 on April 15th, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with a celebration of “Get Your Green Groove On”. This year’s Earth Day celebration will include displays and demonstrations from many exciting green organizations. Learn what you can do to make a deeper connection to nature and gain a greater awareness of actions to take to protect all living things, such as treading more lightly on the planet. The day will be centered on activities for families that offer education and inspire green behaviors. Have fun playing earth games, planting flowers, visiting animals, learning about recycling, composting, and green living, and connecting to nature. Participating organizations will offer hands-on activities at their “Earth Stations”. Educational presentations will be held in the Zoo’s Wildlife Theater throughout the day. Zookeepers around the Zoo will be offering talks on their animals – a great opportunity to ask questions and learn about your favorite Zoo animals! Other activities include: Children’s band – Orange Sherbet Green Groove Dance Party with CBS Radio - MOViN 99.7 Explore the newly restored Arroyo Viejo Creek & Watershed Project Shopping for earth friendly gifts This event is free with regular zoo admission. Bring in a used ink cartridge or cell phone to recycle, and receive a FREE TRAIN RIDE!
