The American Association of Zoo Keepers awards six Oakland Zoo Animal Keepers the Excellence in Journalism Award 2006 – 2007

The Oakland Zoo is proud to announce, six of our Animal Keepers are recipients of the American Association of Zoo Keepers - Excellence in Journalism Award, as notified by Susan Chan, Managing Editor of the Animal Keeper’s Forum!
• Victor Alm and Adam Fink’s article “Scale Training the Malayan Flying Fox” (Petropus vampyrus) was selected as one of the four husbandry articles chosen for Outstanding Recognition from all of the articles published in the Animal Keeper’s Forum from July 2006-June 2007.
• Erica Calcagno and Kasturi Kahol’s article “Radiograph Training of Juvenile Male African Lion” (Panthera leo) was also selected as one of the four husbandry articles chosen for Outstanding Recognition from all of the articles published in the Animal Keeper’s Forum from July 2006-June 2007
• Melissa McCartney and Amy Phelp’s article “Training 0.1 Reticulated Giraffe for Voluntary Transabdominal Sonograms Using Operant Conditioning and the T-Touch Method” was selected as one of the four husbandry articles chosen for Outstanding Recognition from all of the articles published in the 2007 AAZK Conference Proceedings.
The AAZK Excellence in Journalism Awards are selected by the journal’s editorial staff, and will be presented at the 2007 AAZK conference taking place in Galveston, TX, this October.
