"The Chimpanzees of Budongo and How a Project in Uganda is Helping them Survive" Presented by Dr. Vernon Reynolds.

9/14/2007

In the heart of Africa lies the Budongo Forest, home to some 500 chimpanzees. Since 1990 Dr. Reynolds and his team have been studying one group of chimps, observing them as they climb the fig trees to eat the ripe fruits, walk the forest trails, and meet and exchange greetings with each other. The team has also been studying their many challenges: getting caught in wire snares set by hunters, conflicting with local people over mango trees and sugar cane. Dr. Reynolds will tell their story, introduce you to some of the principal characters and explain what his team is doing to create a culture of conservation in the Budogo Forest.
