Oakland Zoo Names Four New Board Members

OAKLAND, CA. – Four new board members have been elected to the Board of the East Bay Zoological Society (Oakland Zoo). “I am excited and honored to have these four individuals join our Board,” said Dr. Joel Parrott, Executive Zoo Director. “They bring a tremendous amount of experience, enthusiasm and commitment to our institution.” The Oakland Zoo is proud to welcome these accomplished members to the Board. Tom Britanik, Danville, has been V.P. and General Manager of the U.S. Automotive Business unit for Clorox from 2005 to the present. Since 1999, he has also served as V.P. of Marketing, Customer Capability Development and General Manager. From 1986 to 1999, he was with Procter and Gamble in various Directorships. Since 1979, he has volunteered for the United Way and held many leadership positions. He notes that, “I have broad experience across many areas and can bring this experience to help drive the Zoo’s goals.” Charles H. Seaman, Oakland, is a partner with Reed Smith LLP in San Francisco. His practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions. He started his career at Crosby Heafey Roach and May in 1979, and noted, “where I had the pleasure of working with three of your former colleagues on the Board; David Otterson, Barbara Roach and Todd Gattoni.” He joined Reed Smith when it merged with Crosby Heafey in 2003. During his career, he has represented a number of non-profits. He stated, “I have watched the Oakland Zoo evolve and improve into a vital institution about which the Bay Area residents are justifiably proud.” James C. Johnston, Alameda, is an executive vice president and the senior credit officer for Wells Fargo & Company. Jim has been with the Wells Fargo Company since 1983 and has been a commercial banker for 25 years. Prior to his current role, he held many positions within Wells Fargo’s Commercial and Corporate Banking Groups. A twenty-year resident of Alameda, Jim stated, “I want to support a valuable community activity and ongoing resources for the future of the East Bay utilizing my skills.” Greg Klein, Alameda, is a Senior Project Architect with John Malick & Associates. Greg has been with John Malick & Associates since 1998. Greg received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois School of Architecture and a Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley. He is interested in classic and historic architecture. Greg stated, “I would like to serve the East Bay community and feel that with my background as an architect, I can aid in the future development of the zoo.”
