Calling all Explorers! - Oakland Zoo's - "Feast for the Beasts" Event
WHEN: Saturday, July 11, from 9:00am - 3:00pm
WHAT: Oakland Zoo's family friendly "Feast for the Beasts"
Experience the rare opportunity to enter the elephant enclosure before the hungry herd, and leave your favorite pachyderm a treat!
There will be scheduled Animal feedings and Zoo Keeper talks throughout the Oakland Zoo.
Plus, help a Zoo Keeper craft an enrichment item for the lions and tiger... then see them play with your creation.
WHAT TO BRING: Bring produce such as grapes, watermelon, apples, carrots, and lettuce. Just like people, elephants like the variety of produce. This "Feast for the Beasts" day is a big treat for them!
What You Get To Do: In Flamingo Plaza, turn in your produce and receive a ticket. Head down to the Elephant Exhibit. Get in line. Zoo staff members and volunteers will direct you into the elephant exhibit. Once inside the exhibit, you will get to place the produce around the exhibit for the hungry herd. Our four elephants will be patiently waiting at the barn until all of the produce is spread around the exhibit. Once all of the produce is placed...the people will exit the exhibit and the elephants will feast on the fantastic food!! Watching the elephants munch on your treats is so much fun. It's an experience your family will never forget!
