What goes on in the Zoo once the rest of the guests leave? You'll find out when your group spends the night at the Oakland Zoo! A variety of themes allows you to focus on the rain-forest, be a detective and snoop your way around the Zoo, or study predator-prey relationships in a fun and exciting overnight adventure.

Go on Safari in Oakland! Family Sundown Safari is a hands-on educational summer program for families with children ages four and up. With an Education Specialist, you will be able to explore the Wayne and Gladys Valley Children’s Zoo on a private sunset tour, meet some of our animal ambassadors up-close, and make an enrichment craft for some of our Zoo animals. After enjoying a late-night snack, circle around the campfire for interactive storytelling before drifting off to sleep in the Zoo meadow. Shortly after awaking to singing siamangs, you’ll enjoy a hot breakfast in the Island Café, embark on an early morning tour, and watch the animals enjoy the treats you made for them.
