ZOOCAMP!

Dear Oakland ZooCampers and families:

We are so glad you will be joining us this summer for ZooCamp 2008! Please note the following important information about ZooCamp:

Hours:

Full Day: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Half Day AM: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Half Day PM: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Drop-off/Pick-up:

Drivers will drop off and pick up campers at the Maddie’s Center for Science and Environmental Education.  Make the second left after the parking gate and follow the loop road. Please park your car and walk your camper into the Zimmer Auditorium each day. At pick up time, park your car and walk to pick up your camper.

Monday:

When you arrive on Monday morning, please check the ZooCamp announcement board and find out your campers group and counselors name. Once doors open, please find your counselor and wait for further instructions.

Please be on time.

It may be difficult to find your class if you are late. We take daily attendance, so call us at (510) 632-9525 x 123, if your child will miss a day or be very late. Please be on time for pick-ups, as well.  A $5.00 fee for every 15 minutes will be charged for late pick-ups.

Food:

Full-day campers should bring a healthy lunch and all campers should bring a light, nutritious snack each day --no junk food, please!  Please avoid sugary drinks as these attract yellow-jackets.  Water is a better choice.  See below for waste-free lunch ideas.

Dress:

Campers should dress in layers and wear secure shoes.  Please, no flip-flops. Hats and sunscreen are also recommended.

Campers must wear their special ZooCamp T-shirt every day.

BE SURE ALL SWEATSHIRTS AND JACKETS ARE MARKED WITH FIRST AND LAST NAMES (Unmarked clothing that is left behind will be donated to service organizations.)

Special Friends:

We have done our best to place campers in a group with their one Special Friend.

Free Parking:

Show this letter as you enter the lower gate to avoid being asked for the parking fee.

ZooCamp Lunches are Waste-Free:

At ZooCamp, we care about animals and the planet. Each day, we do all we can to protect them. One easy way we can do our part is to bring a waste-free,healthy lunch and snack each day.THANKS!!!
