ZOO MOBILE OUTREACH PROGRAMS

School ZooMobile

An education specialist will bring the ZooMobile to your classroom and use small animals and animal artifacts to teach grade-appropriate topics. Children will have an opportunity to touch most of the animals presented and all will receive a free pass to the Zoo. Two 50-minute classes or three 30-minute classes can be accommodated in a single day.

30-Minute Presentations
(Maximum 20 students per presentation)
Preschool: Animal Introductions
Kindergarten: Animal Elements
First Grade: Animal Homes
Fee: $95 plus zone fee (when applicable); $75 for additional classes on the same day.

50-Minute Presentations
(Maximum 35 students per presentation)
Grades 2-8: Choose one of the following topics:

  • Amazing Adaptations
  • Creatures of the Night: Nocturnal Animals
  • Hooray for Herps! Reptiles and Amphibians
  • Invertebrate Invasion!

Fee: $115 plus zone fee (when applicable); $90 for additional classes on the same day.

Conservation ZooMobile

Single classes of upper elementary school children explore conservation issues in this two-hour "stations" program to be set up in a school library, multi-purpose room, or classroom. Stations include: live animals to illustrate harmful aspects of the pet trade; confiscated animal products on loan to us from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to illustrate the commercial trade in wildlife products; a portable rain forest to illustrate biodiversity; a slideshow describing threats to wildlife; and the 4 R's station (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rot) to show children how they can actively help the environment. The Conservation ZooMobile begins booking for the school year in June and is offered on Wednesdays only. Fee: $210 plus zone fee (when applicable)

Birthday Party ZooMobile

Make your child's next birthday a memorable one with a ZooMobile visit. The birthday child (ages four and older) and up to 20 friends will meet up to five small animals, most of which can be touched. Each child will receive a free pass to the Zoo and a small Zoo gift. The birthday child will receive an additional Zoo gift to mark the occasion A ZooMobile party is fun, educational and entertaining. Fee: $185 (members) plus zone fee (when applicable) $205 (non-members) plus zone fee (when applicable)

Senior ZooMobile

A ZooMobile visit for seniors can be an enriching and stimulating experience. This is a flexible 45-minute program offering educational information with a light touch. Seniors will have plenty of time to touch the animals and ask questions. Fee: $75. $50 for additional programs on the same day.

Community/Special Events ZooMobile

Looking for a conservation education component for your next event? The ZooMobile can bring animals, artifacts, learning activities, and Zoo information in a flexible format to your special event for one to four hours. The program allows people to become involved at their leisure. Program topics include Invertebrates, Reptiles, Animal Enrichment, and Endangered Species. ZooMobiles are always a crowd pleaser!
Fee: starting at $100 – $150 per hour.
