Family, friends, and ZooLights are a great way to turn on your holiday spirit! This year’s much anticipated event will feature larger-than-life light displays to mirror the Oakland Zoo’s full-time animal residents. Holiday music will fill the air as guests mingle among hundreds of thousands of energy-efficient LED lights. “PG&E is proud to collaborate with the Oakland Zoo to make its annual ZooLights tradition energy efficient,” said Greg Hoaglin, PG&E’s executive manager of East Bay Service and Sales. "Energy-efficient lights are a great way for our communities to go green this holiday season. We are thrilled that thousands of children and adults will have the opportunity to learn about energy efficiency while enjoying the blend of beauty, learning, and excitement that define the Oakland Zoo. PG&E truly values its relationship with the Oakland Zoo and looks forward to working closely with them in the future."

So, grab a cup of hot cocoa and feast your eyes on more than 120 lighted animal structures. Don’t miss the ZooLights meadow show with music provided by Movin’ 99.7 and orchestrated by Impact Lighting. It’s an animal escapade that will unplug any “bah humbug” attitude! Plus, have your picture taken with Santa! Jolly Old St. Nick will be at the Oakland Zoo every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday leading up to Christmas. AND...he will be at the Zoo on December 22nd and December 23rd! You can get a picture with Santa for only $5.00!!

Embark on a more relaxed ZooLights experience and board the Snowball Express, a miniature C.P. Huntington steam engine train. The Zoo’s famous train ride is popular among the young and the young at heart! Let your holiday spirit take you away as you see breathtaking views of the Bay Area while winding around the Oakland Zoo after dark.

End the evening in the Oakland Zoo’s Rides Area where children will especially enjoy a fantasyland of giant toy soldiers, with over-sized candy canes, lollipops, and gingerbread cookies. The holiday season may even bring out the kid in you…take a twirl on the carousel! Oakland Zoo’s ZooLights is the largest LED light festival in Northern California!

The 2008 Zoolights event is sponsored by: PG&E, CW, CBS 5, Movin 99.7, the Oakland Tribune, and PETCO.
