Borneo and Biodiversity: an Eco-Hotspot presented by Cynthia Ong and Heather Pierson of LEAP
Borneo is home to some of the richest biodiversity on Earth and to such wonders as the Malayan sun bear, orangutan, clouded leopard, the world's largest pitcher plant, moth, flower and monkey, right alongside its unique pygmy elephants and rhinos.
Unfortunately, Borneo now also is home to rampant ecological destruction, due in large part to deforestation and conversion of forest areas to oil palm agriculture. Find out more about these eco-tipping point projects and what LEAP (Land, Empowerment, Animals, People) is doing about them. For more information about LEAP visit www.leapspiral.org
Doors open at 6:00pm. Lecture begins at 6:30pm.
