The African Veldt is home to the Oakland Zoo’s herd of eight gentle, graceful giraffes and is one of the most popular animal exhibits at the Zoo. Our giraffe program is award winning, known and respected around the world for its progressive, innovative training and giraffe husbandry programs. Our herd is growing and they need a new barn, to provide a safe and comfortable home and contribute to their ongoing health and well-being.

Thank you for being a part of the Oakland Zoo’s 19th Annual Walk in the Wild, and helping us to celebrate the East Bay Zoological Society’s 75th Anniversary.
Thanks to your generous contributions, we were able to raise over $188,000 this year to support the Zoo’s conservation, education, and animal enrichment programs. Since 2006, Walk in the Wild has raised over $1 million.
We’d like to thank you again for being a part of the Oakland Zoo’s community of supporters, and we hope to see you again at next year’s Walk in the Wild on Saturday, June 23, 2012.

The Oakland Zoo’s Friends of the Wild are donors whose contributions to the Annual Fund total $1,000 or more in a calendar year. As a donor to the Zoo’s Friends of the Wild, you will have access to a variety of benefits available only to our close supporters.

Making a gift ‘in honor of’ or ‘in memory of’ allows you to recognize loved ones on special occasions or express condolences by honoring the memory of a friend or relative. The Oakland Zoo will send notification to the specified party letting them know of your donation (gift amount not disclosed), and we will send you a tax receipt for your files.
