ANNUAL GIVING ASSOCIATE (full-time)
DAYS/HOURS: Monday – Friday, 8:30a-5:00p, but weekend and evening work is required as needed.
SALARY: $40,000 - $45,000 annually, depending on experience

JOB SUMMARY:
The Development Associate for Annual Giving is responsible for annual fundraising programs that solicit one-time and renewable gifts from individuals and members, family foundations, companies and vendors through direct mail, on-line giving and personal calls made by volunteers to meet the stated budget goals. The Associate provides assistance to the Director of Development, Membership Manager and Capital Campaign Manager, and creates reports and information as requested. Examples of duties include coordination of the Annual Fund appeals, special fundraising and corporate sponsorships for events, donor communications, donor records management, and prospect tracking. The Annual Giving associate is a fundraising professional working to identify, cultivate and solicit donors and new prospects to meet development goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Manage and prepare donor files and planning for solicitation of gifts, and all related follow-up calls, reports, correspondence and record-keeping for the Annual Fund. 2. Work closely with the Director of Development and Membership Manager to identify donor prospects, and coordinate materials preparation, cultivation events and stewardship programs. 3. Coordinate donor and prospect communications, and implementation of annual donor reception. 4. Serve as the Development department's coordinator for Walk in the Wild in conjunction with Zoo Marketing. 5. Plan and implement promotion of special giving programs, such as monthly and on-line giving, tributes and other approved programs. 6. Participate in Development department and other meetings, prepare minutes, agendas and materials as requested, and assist with the budgeting process for Development. 7. Work with the Development Director and Campaign Manager to implement major donor recognition to ensure long-term sustainability of the major gifts program. 8. Work as a team member with Development and Zoo personnel for the successful achievement of fundraising goals. 9. Provide assistance to the Director of Development, as requested. 10. Demonstrate superior customer service with customers, both internal (i.e. co-workers) and external (vendors, visitors, students, parents, etc) donors and donor prospects, and volunteers. 11. Demonstrate knowledge and support of the East Bay Zoological Society's mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and codes of behavior. 12. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Required knowledge, skills & abilities: • Self-starter, well-organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to work flexible hours. • Able to set priorities, manage multiple projects and work within budget restrictions. • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, spreadsheet essentials, and database technology (preferably Raiser's Edge.) • Familiarity with Bay Area philanthropy, particularly public nonprofit organizations such as zoos, parks, conservation, cultural, animal welfare or environmental organizations, helpful. • Able to work as a team member with co-workers, and effectively coordinate the work of volunteers. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure under pressure and exercise good judgment. •Ability to organize tasks and ensure timely completion of projects with attention to detail and accuracy. 2) Minimum educational level: •A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. •Advanced courses and/or professional training preferred. 3) Experience required: •Two to three years of fundraising experience; an emphasis on donor/client relations preferred. Candidates must have long enough tenure in position(s) to be able to demonstrate abilities. •Proven experience working with volunteers. •Knowledge and use of data base management programs; Raiser's Edge experience preferred.

JANITOR
DAYS/HOURS: Days may vary, but holiday and weekend work is a must. SALARY: $11.00/hour CLASSIFICATION: Full-time temporary, non-exempt (hourly); full-time after 90 days of employment. START DATE: Immediately
SUMMARY:
The Janitor will maintain Zoo buildings and Zoo grounds by providing janitorial and housekeeping services and light grounds keeping (and some minor repair services as needed).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Maintains building interior by dusting and polishing furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures; washing windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork; sweeping, scrubbing, and waxing floors; cleaning and vacuuming drapes, furniture, and carpeting; cleaning and resupplying rest rooms.
* Maintains building accessibility and appearance by picking up papers and trash; removing ice and snow from walkways and parking lot; painting; maintaining the lawn and surrounding landscape.
* Removes trash by emptying trash containers; transporting materials to disposal area; recycling materials.
* Keeps cleaning equipment operational by following manufacturer's operating and care guidelines; completing operator repairs and parts replacement.
* Completes equipment and building repairs by following manufacturer's instructions and maintenance procedures.
* Maintains parts and equipment inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed parts; anticipating cleaning equipment replacement; placing orders.
* Maintains safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Maintains continuity between shifts by documenting cleaning actions; noting areas requiring additional care or monitoring.
* Drives Zoo vehicle (cart) throughout Zoo, obeying all safety rules.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Experience in: Housekeeping, Equipment Maintenance, Facilities Coordination, Basic Safety, Supply Management
Skills: Independence, Attention to Detail, Self-Motivated, Planning, Initiative, Effective Communication. Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, crawl, walk, stoop, reach, bend for extended periods (at least 8 hrs per day).
Weekend and holiday work is REQUIRED, as this is our busiest time. Must also possess a valid driver's license and clean DMV record.
