Winter ZooCamp 2016

Group of ZooCampers Unsure what to do with your children when relatives are arriving and the house is full of holiday chaos? Send them to us!

Winter ZooCamp is for kids currently in grades K-5th, and runs around the Christmas and New Year holidays. This year we are offering two-day or three-day workshops from December 19 - 30. Each workshop includes a mini zoo tour, craft, and animal close-up. Curriculum is designed so that campers can register for every program without repeating activities.

Program Information

• Participants must be currently enrolled in Kindergarten - 5th grade. Our youngest participants must be currently enrolled in a kindergarten class or transitional kindergarten program. If you register a camper who is ineligible to participate, your registration will be cancelled.

• Program hours are 9:00am - 4:00pm.

December 19-21 (3-day workshop): A Day in the Life
Zookeepers and veterinarians spend every day caring for animals. Try your hand at using keeper tools and creating toys for our animals, and find out what it takes to keep animals happy and healthy at the zoo.

December 22-23 (2-day workshop): Bones, Bones, Bones
Skulls and other bones hold a surprising number of clues about how an animal lives and what an animal does to survive. Examine our collection of real and replica bones up-close, then visit the live animals in the zoo to see the bones in action.

December 27-28 (2-day workshop): Winter Wildlife
What do animals do when winter sets in? They don't have the Weather Channel app, but animals instinctively know how to survive in the wet and cold. Learn how animals are adapted for the dark, cold, winter season.

December 29-30 (2-day workshop): Family, Friends, and Flocks
Who keeps you safe? Who gives you good food? Who tucks you in at night? Find out how animals care for their families in different ways - Will they be like your family? Or not? Explore the zoo and find out.
