Oakland Zoo is proud to have Welk Resorts’ support as a Premier Corporate Partner whose contributions further the Zoo’s mission to inspire respect for and stewardship of the natural world. For more information on Welk Resorts, visit their website.
The Oakland Zoo values conservation and sustainable operations, and seeks to collaborate with corporate partners who share those values. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Welk Resorts. The California-based vacation ownership company shares our commitment to protecting the natural environment of the Golden State, and their generosity has helped support the Zoo’s exhibits and conservation initiatives.
On your next visit to the Zoo, stop by the Welk Resorts “Where in the World?” booth. Welk’s ambassadors have embraced the Zoo’s focus on conservation and passion for the environment. The “Where in the World?” ambassadors love engaging with guests and answering questions, and they even offer a fun trivia game for kids to learn about the animals that call Oakland Zoo home.
Over the past three years of our partnership, Welk Resorts has generously donated $45,000 in Lake Tahoe lodge and other resort stays to support our fundraising efforts for the Zoo and our mission. Welk has also made in-kind donations through gifting vacation stays for live auctions, at our fundraising events, like our annual Walk in the Wild event every summer for the Zoo.
Welk Resorts’ sponsorship and partnership provides meaningful and impactful financial support to our animal care, conservation, and education efforts—both onsite, in the community and beyond. Their help ensures the health and well-being of Oakland Zoo’s animals, enables meaningful community access and education, and fortifies our conservation work locally and globally.
Welk Resorts also supported Oakland Zoo’s 56-acre California Trail exhibit. A transformational project that furthered our commitment to animal care, education, and conservation. California Trail provides a chance to interpret one of the great stories of change in California and emphasizes the role of humans in shaping the ecology of the San Francisco Bay Area. Through live native animal and plant habitats, the Zoo highlights the delicate balance between plants, animals, and humans, and the impact of change on all three.
