Our online reservations / ticketing system for Glowfari reservations will be live on Friday, February 5th at 10AM (PST). Tickets will not be available for booking / purchase until then.
**If you already have an existing ticket / reservation to visit the Zoo that you purchased pre-closure on December 7th, 2020, either during daytime hours (or to experience Glowfari), we will reach out via email this Friday with instructions on how you can to reschedule your current reservation to visit Oakland Zoo.
How long are you closed?
Oakland Zoo opens on February 3rd for regular daytime admission, and February 5th for our Glowfari nighttime event.
I purchased tickets for daytime admission/Glowfari; what should I do now?
Anyone with reservations for daytime visits or Glowfari during the Zoo’s closure will be contacted by email on Friday, January 28th, with instructions on how to reschedule their existing booking.
Will Glowfari be extended?
Yes. We will extend Glowfari through March 13. Anyone with existing reservations for Glowfari should have been contacted by email on Friday, January 28th, with information on how to reschedule their booking for after we have a reopening date.
What happens to the animals during closure?
Our animals are doing great and their well-being is always our top priority. Our Animal Care and Veterinary Hospital staff have continued working throughout the Zoo's closure to ensure the safety and health of the animals at Oakland Zoo. Essential staff from various departments have also continued to be onsite to maintain grounds and Zoo operations.
I am a volunteer, what should I do?
You will receive ongoing communications from the Zoo regarding the stay-at-home order and as developments occur. If you are interested in becoming a new volunteer, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Community Groups interested in volunteering please email email@example.com.
How will Oakland Zoo make decisions regarding COVID-19?
The California Department of Public Health is the lead agency in public health crisis situations in our state and provides public facilities direction on how to manage responses. We are continuing to work closely with the California Department of Public Health and Alameda County Public Health Department so we can respond quickly to any changes in their recommendations, guidance, and direction. We will remain in active contact with the Department of Health officials.
Can I extend or get a refund on my membership?
As in 2020, we are committed to providing membership extensions as a reflection of our gratitude for your loyalty and support. When a reopening date is confirmed:
Our standing policy is that memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.
I am purchasing a Gift Membership. When will the membership start and expire?
All memberships start on their date of purchase and expire on the last day of the month, 12 months later. For example, a membership purchased in January 2021 will automatically expire January 31, 2022.
When will I receive my membership cards? How do I prove my membership without my card?
During our closure, we are not going to print membership cards so that cards are printed with updated expiration dates. If you purchased a membership after November 19, 2020, your cards will not be mailed until our reopening is announced. In the meantime, if you want to use your reciprocal benefits at partner organizations that are open, you can use a Temporary Pass PDF from an online confirmation email or a copy of any email from firstname.lastname@example.org that includes your membership details to verify your membership status.
