We pack all the fun of our Journey and Badge workshops into overnights at the Oakland Zoo! See what the Zoo is like at night after all the guests have gone home. You will get to visit the Children’s Zoo at night, meet an animal ambassador up close, and have a tasty snack before bed. After you snuggle down in the comfort of our Education Center at night, enjoy a tasty continental breakfast before heading out into the zoo for a private tour as the animals wake up!
All Girl Scout Overnights include an animal close-up with one of Oakland Zoo's animal ambassadors.
Come to Oakland Zoo to learn a bit about bugs! You will never want to tell a bug to “buzz” off again after you spend the night at the Zoo. Learn exactly what makes a bug a bug by illustrating some of their common body parts. You will also have the chance to meet some of our resident bugs by visiting them in their homes here at the Zoo.
In this leadership Journey, Juniors get wild about energy as they explore the ecological energy cycle. They’ll learn how to do an energy audit, explore animal migration on a Zoo tour, meet an animal close-up, and make conservation promise beads.
Come find out how important it is to preserve an animal’s habitat. You will investigate many different animals here at the Zoo and learn about each one's unique habitat and what makes these animals experts at living in their habitat.
What happens in the zoo after dark? Cadettes will explore Oakland Zoo after the sun goes down, meet nocturnal animals up close and personal, and investigate how well their own senses work without light. Add in a creative art/science project or two, and you will have earned your Night Owl badge by the time you head home in the morning.
It's a mystery; so, put on your thinking caps! Groups will work together using the clues that lead to each animal on our tour. You will learn about each animal we discover along the way from an Oakland Zoo Education Specialist. You may end up behind-the-scenes or face-to-face with an animal to meet and touch!
$3 for each additional Oakland Zoo patch (for all ages)
Patches can be ordered through our Reservations Associate or through your Education Specialist the day of your program.
