Join us for an evening with Dr. Alex Herman, VP of Veterinary Services at Oakland Zoo, as she describes how our veterinary team rescues and cares for local wildlife.

The Oakland Zoo Veterinary Hospital provides medical and surgical care to the complete Oakland Zoo collection, from tiny endangered Sierra Nevada Yellow Legged Frogs, to our beautiful reticulated giraffes. We are part of the California Condor Recovery Team, hospitalizing birds with lead toxicity and exposure, working with Pinnacles National Park and Ventana Wildlife Society. Additionally we assist California Fish and Wildlife Service with orphaned Mountain Lions, and confiscations both from smugglers and illegal non permitted exotic pets like alligators and caimans.
