About Cocktails & Conservation

This virtual happy hour series features some of the world’s most incredible conservationists. These heroes are working on the ground every day to save endangered species and their habitats. Guests will join us on Facebook or YouTube Live to learn, ask questions, and be a part of the solution to preserve our planet’s rich and diverse wildlife.

Each episode will feature a custom cocktail, so we can toast to a safe world for wildlife. Look out for the recipe, mix your cocktail, and join us live!

2021 Cocktails & Conservation Schedule:

September 8: Saving the Chimps of the Budongo Forest

Join Oakland Zoo, and award-winning wildlife hero, Dr. Caroline Asiimwe, Wildlife Veterinarian and Educator at the Budongo Snare Removal Project LIVE from Uganda. This dynamic effort addresses the challenging issue of chimps getting caught in snares set by poachers using solutions that respect the needs of the local community. Oakland Zoo is so excited to share this project which has been part of our conservation history for over 20 years.

We are pleased to feature a signature cocktail from Ale Industries in Oakland so we can imbibe while being inspired!

October 13: Animals Asia: Heroes for Moon Bears and More

November 10: Big Life African Wildlife Protection

Hosted by Amy Gotliffe, VP of Conservation at Oakland Zoo
