School Group Overnights
The adventure begins as your class explores the Zoo in a private evening tour. Afterwards, head inside to enjoy snacks and participate in a fun (and educational) activity.
Spring and Fall by Request

Tours are provided to children (ages 5 and up) as well as adults. For our visitors with disabilities or physical challenges, our Docents provide tours with specially-equipped electric carts. Most exhibits and areas of the Zoo are accessible to these tours. Reservations for docent tours must be made four weeks in advance.

Your interactive, up close animal encounter hosted in our outdoor Wildlife Theater will provide an opportunity to explore your theme through observation and questioning, all while having fun, during this live animal presentation. After your program ends, your class, using their honed observational skills, can explore the Zoo at your own pace. This program is great for large groups with multiple classes and multiple age ranges.

Discover the Wonders of the World's Wildlife with a ZooMobile Program! Bring the zoo to you in a variety of ways. A myriad of ZooMobile outreach programs have been tailored to meet the needs of your group!

Bring your class to the Zoo and experience a day full of adventure! Upon arrival each class will be greeted by an Education Specialist, who will bring you to a classroom and introduce your theme. Then you will venture in to the Zoo to explore and observe the plants and animals on a guided tour. After your tour, you will return to your classroom to wrap up and review the day's activities. After your program has ended you can head back into the Zoo to eat a picnic lunch, or back to visit the animals until your departure time.

Oakland Zoo provides free and discounted science education programs through our Zoo-to-Community initiative for underserved students attending Title 1 schools in the Greater Bay Area.

Oakland Zoo is proud to partner with local school districts, colleges and universities to offer inquiry-based science and environmental education programs, Pre-K through University. Our K-12 programs actively support CA State, Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards and practices. Our college and university partnerships provide post-secondary and graduate students with unique opportunities to learn about animal behavior, research, and veterinary medicine.
