Ale Industries

Ale Industries is an environmentally conscious endeavor that uniquely spreads the experience of craft beer from Oakland’s Fruitvale district, by building community through responsible consumption and collaborative efforts with local organizations committed to protecting & growing the unique cultures of Oakland & the bay area. In addition to our continued partnership with Ale Industries and the Town Zoo beer project that directly supports our conservation efforts through sales, we will release a specialty beer available only at the Zoo celebrating 100 years in Oakland.


BARTable is a website dedicated to everything that is BARTable (as in, things that are close to BART stations), and spreads the word about some of the best things to experience in the Bay Area. Every year BARTable supports more than 100 organizations and events as an in-kind media sponsor including this year’s Centennial Celebration at Oakland Zoo's birthplace, Snow Park. Snow Park is a BARTable location at 19th and Harrison right next to beautiful Lake Merritt and a short walk from 19th St. Oakland Station.

Crooked City Cider

Crooked City Cider is an Oakland based cider taphouse that strives to offer the widest variety of rotating ciders and provides a dog friendly space for local cider drinkers. As fall rolls around and apple season flourishes, Crooked City Cider will create a unique cider recipe to celebrate the anniversary featured exclusively at their taphouse and Oakland Zoo.

Oakland Roots

Oakland Roots Sports Club seeks to harness the magic of Oakland and the power of sport as a force for social good. Whether on the pitch, in the stands, or within the community, Oakland Roots represent our one-of-a-kind city with passion, pride, and commitment to all things Oakland. The Roots hosted their first ever Oakland Zoo day followed by an Oakland Zoo night this past year. For the 2022 season, we plan to have another official Zoo game and be present during more games providing educational opportunities and free passes to local children to visit the Zoo.


Oaklandish spreads “local love” by way of civic pride-evoking tees and accessories, while creating quality jobs for locals, and giving back to the people and places that maintain our city’s trailblazer spirit. Our second collaboration with Oaklandish highlights our longstanding history in the community year with a commemorative t-shirt to honor our centennial year.

Pezzy Pet Treats

Pezzy Pets is a like-minded mission pet treat company based in Berkeley, California working with small-scale fishermen in Mexico to turn the tide against the hated, invasive "devil fish" or armored catfish. Pezzy Pets is upcycling this naughty lil devil into healthy treats that are beyond sustainable, all while improving livelihoods in fishing communities. In addition to providing yummy treats to Oakland Zoo animals, 15% of sales from Pezzy Pet Treats online are donated directly to Oakland Zoo.

Join Oakland Zoo in Taking Action for whales, sea turtles, shorebirds and all native Wildlife! Volunteers meet at the Zoo and ride the Zoo Shuttle to a local Oakland bay-destined waterway to remove trash, including the ever-abundant plastics that harms and kills our seabirds, turtles, fish and more.

Celebrate this wonderful planet we all call home with a day full of live music, animal encounters, entertainment performances, and booths of over 50 hands-on Earth Stations and local environmental organizations! Every visitor that attends gets a special eco-friendly gift on this day.

Enjoy the rare opportunity to place food inside habitats before the animals go out for the day. Place produce for the elephants, hide seeds for the baboons, spread snacks for the sun bears, toss treats around the grizzly yard, or feed giraffes. And of course, you’ll get to meet and greet with our amazing animal keepers!

Centennial Birthday Celebration at Snow Park

The official date of our founding is June 6, 1922, and we celebrated our birthday at our original birthplace, Snow Park, in downtown Oakland next to Lake Merritt. This extra special day was full of fun and festivities for all ages with live music, performances, food, drink, activities for the kids, and more. Thanks to all the Oakland-based business and organizations that attended. It was a wonderful day to celebrate not just the Zoo, but all of Oakland—the great city we live in and the history we all share together!

Boo at the Zoo

Calling all ghosts, goblins, and witches - join us for Boo at the Zoo! Enjoy this family-friendly Halloween event with a spooky animal-themed scavenger hunt to collect animal trading cards. Remember to dress in costume to enter our social media costume contest. Tickets go on sale in mid-September. This event sells out fast!!

Glowfari is an unforgettable experience for all ages to enjoy! Featuring hundreds of larger-than-life glowing animal lanterns throughout the Zoo; and with all-new animals displays for 2022! Take a mile-long illuminated stroll through the Zoo and visit the desert with camels and bighorn sheep, have an African safari adventure with elephants, giraffes, and an 8-foot crocodile head, walk through the forests of Asia to meet red and giant pandas - and of course ride the gondola to California Trail. Finish the evening with a visit to Santa and ride the Express Train through our Winter Wonderland!
