Oakland Zoo is teaming up with Oakland Animal Services, East Bay SPCA, and NBC Bay Area to “Clear the Shelters” this August!
This first-ever Pet Adoption Day at the Zoo aims to help find loving homes for animals in need. We’re excited to extend our message of humane care for ALL animals, and responsible pet ownership through this event and to help dogs, cats, and guinea pigs get forever homes.
Important information for the event:
Event takes place in the Children's Zoo.
Zoo admission purchase is not required for pet adoption, but you must enter from the Lower Entrance, and access is limited only to the Children's Zoo.
Zoo admission ticket is required if you would like to access the rest of the Zoo (can be purchased onsite, at the time of event).
Regular general admission and member ticket holders can access this event during their visit.
Once your animal adoption is completed, you must take your new ‘family member’ home, you will not be able to access the Zoo after completing your adoption.
If you adopt an animal – you will get a Free family pass (free admission for 2 adults and 2 children plus free parking) to return at a later date.
What you’ll need to adopt from Oakland Animal Services:
A valid Driver’s License, California ID card, or other photo identification (Must be at least 18 years old).
Payment for adoption fees. Our fees can only be paid by credit card or cash. Checks not accepted.
A completed Adoption Questionnaire. Save time by filling out a cat, dog, or guinea pig adoption questionnaire ahead of time and bring a printed hardcopy with you!
What you'll need to adopt from East Bay SPCA:
A valid Driver’s License, California ID card, or other photo identification (Must be at least 18 years old).
Payment for adoption fees. Our fees can only be paid by credit card or cash. Checks not accepted.
A completed Adoption Questionnaire. Save time by filling out a questionnaire ahead of time and bringing it with you!
