Love kids, nature, and ZooCamp? We need your help! Join our ZooCamp Teen Assistant program and spend three weeks playing with kids, helping to lead activities, making crafts, dressing up in costumes and, of course, having fun all while earning community service hours. Teen Assistants are truly an integral part of the camp experience! Teen Assistants should be energetic and enjoy spending time with children. This program is designed for teens entering grades 9–12 in the Fall of 2021.
TAs must commit to working three weeks during the summer, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and may be invited back for additional weeks as the schedule allows.
You will be assigned to a ZooCamp class and will assist your teacher with tours, games, crafts and general camp merriment!
Prospective TAs should fill out the ZooCamp Teen Assistant Application (2022 version coming soon) along with one required letter of recommendation, and return it by the deadline.
TA Applications must be turned in by Friday, May 15, 2022 in order to be considered.
Please note: If you were a TA last summer and are planning on returning this summer, please do not apply using the link above as it is for new TAs. We are sending out returning TA applications through the email they used during their volunteer time. If you have not received anything by March 18th, please use the contact below to get ahold of me.
The application supplies basic information, schedule requests, essay questions, and requires a letter of recommendation from an adult other than a relative.
Teen Assistants work with a variety of camp classes, aged pre-K through middle school (though mostly elementary school kids). Although we do our best to accommodate your preference for a specific age group, we cannot guarantee placement with any particular class.
After all applications have been received, they will be scored and the highest scoring applicants will be accepted.
Applicants will be notified of their status by email on or before May 30, 2022.
The final number of TAs accepted is determined by the number of camp classes and enrollment.
One 6-hour training session is also required, which will be held on a Saturday (specific date will be posted as we get closer to Summer 2022).
