Boo at the Zoo

About the Event

Calling all ghosts, goblins, and witches - join us for Boo at the Zoo every day from October 22-31, 2022, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Enjoy this family-friendly Halloween event with a spooky animal-themed scavenger hunt.

Grab a program as you enter the Zoo and follow the clues on our self-guided scavenger hunt to trick-or-treat for animal trading cards throughout the Zoo. Upon completing your scavenger hunt, collect a limited-release trading card and a candy bar from our presenting sponsor OCHO Candy.

Remember to dress in costume (no inflatable costumes - they can scare the Zoo animals) when you visit and tag Oakland Zoo on social media to be entered in our Halloween costume contest. Winners will receive 4 tickets to our nighttime lantern festival this year, GLOWFARI, from November 11 - January 29!

Costume Contest Themed Days

• ‍10/22-10/24: Twinning - Parents suit up! It's time to twin with your mini in your favorite Halloween costumes.
• ‍10/25-10/27: Monster Squad - Ghouls & monsters of the night, it's your time to shine for a Halloween fright. Dress up in your classic monster squad members.
• 10/28-10/30: Favorite Animal Friends - Furry or scaley, feathers or slimy, it's up to you! Pick your favorite animal to sport around the Zoo.
• 10/31: Wild Card - Your choice! Dress up as your favorite superhero, princess, pirate - the possibilities are endless!*
